Senate Square Condominiums
The design of this 300 unit residential condominium building aesthetically and thematically garners the romance of the adaptive reuse of ninetieth century industrial structures for residential purposes like the neighborhoods of Tribeca and Soho in Manhattan. Located adjacent to Washington DC’s Union Station, it was our goal to incorporate and extend these distinct qualities of the building and its grand neighbor to the interior architecture and design. To connect the interiors of the building to this landmark context materials have been used throughout to evoke both traditions. Heavy rough granite is found upon entry to the lobby evoking the work-a-day chic of the building design and then shifts dramatically to a more refined white limestone and platinum leaf palette of materials harkening back to the white granite and leafing found in the Union Station.
